Street Photography

I like how if you look closely, you can see pumpkins on the other side.

Here are some photos from the past week...I was playing around with lines, rule of thirds, and other techniques. There are definitely photos here that I would like to go back in a crop. I went to a garden center that has a pumpkin patch, so I was trying to shoot pictures of the people picking their pumpkins. But, since there weren't  that many people around I didn't want to seem too obvious! Also, I went to the farmers market and tried to get some shots there as well.

Union Square: Part 1

On Saturday we went to Union Square to experiment with "Street Photography," and here are some of the results. It was difficult because I am not used to taking candid pictures of people, so I had to work on getting a good shot without the person noticing.
I meant to crop the green shoe out! Whoops!

Lonely & Sad

An old car parked at a run-down house.
This house has an overgrown garden, with grass growing between the stones of the driveway. There are objects scattered on the windowsills and garden furniture all over the lawn. Today I was walking by and saw this old car out front with a white tarp draped over it. It reminded me of the adjectives we chose: mysterious, lonely, and sad.

Rain Drops

It was late when I took this picture, and I loved how delicate the flowers looked with the drops of dew. I zoomed in on this one in particular because of how open it was, and I like the affect of the hazy flowers in the back. I did use flash in this picture because it was so dark, and although I usually hate the look of flash, I think it really benefits the picture here. There is great contrast between the light flowers and the dark background.

Light & Fruit

These pictures do not really have any correlation whatsoever. I took the first picture yesterday and love how the light reflects on the leaves and brings out the different shades of green.

Also, I love taking pictures of food and so I was practicing with making an appealing shot. The grey areas on the bright red plums make such cool designs on the fruit.  Hopefully I will have some more interesting pictures to share soon!

October 1st.

This weather sure doesn't feel like October. It is sunny with a slight breeze, but nice and warm. The light cast such a nice glow on the reeds, but it was hard to capture since they kept moving! If only you could smell the ocean through these pictures.
